JADE HUAYU CHEN

I am an assistant professor in accounting at Loyola Marymount University. 

My primary research interest is in the area of auditing, with a focus on various factors that affect auditors' ability to deliver high audit quality such as audit firm's internal governance and human capital management. I am also interested in questions at the intersection of auditing and financial accounting such as the role of auditing and audit regulation in shaping firm disclosure decisions. In my research, I apply theories and perspectives from various disciplines, such as spatial economics and labor economics, to auditing settings, aiming to advance the understanding of the audit industry. I primarily use archival methods and have compiled unique datasets to address my research questions. 

I hold a Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Arizona. I earned a Bachelor of Economics in Public Finance from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and a Master of Science in Accounting from Michigan State University. Prior to academia, I worked for the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China as a personal financial manager for four years.
